AAT - How Do I Study by Distance Learning ?

MCG is an AAT Approved Training and Assessment Centre in Bahrain (AAC Code Number : OO0488.) If you wish to attend part-time evening classes with MCG, email us ---here--- or call us on Bahrain 224240 or 224252 for details.

MCG is the first international centre approved to offer the AAT scheme through Distance Learning.

If you are not able to attend classes, you could consider studying by distance learning. Through Distance Learning you can study at your own pace from almost any location.

Students around the world studying on the AAT Education and Training Scheme sit Examinations (formerly known as Central Assessments) at local Approved Assessment Centres. The papers are then sent to the UK to be marked by the AAT. Skills tests (formerly known as Devolved Assessments) are also administered and reviewed through local Approved Assessment Centres.

If there is no Approved Assessment Centre near to you, formal examinations and skills tests can be organised, in most countries, through authorised centres such as the British Council. It is therefore possible to study for the AAT qualification from almost any location by distance learning.

The AAT Diploma in Accounting, which only requires completion of the six formally examined units, can also be studied by Distance Learning and is recommended for students who are located far from Approved Assessment Centres or for those who are not currently working in the field of Finance and Accounting.

If you decide to study by Distance Learning, check with MCG first to make sure that it is possible to study from your current location. We will consult the AAT and if we then confirm that your location is acceptable you can start at any time, without waiting for classes to commence. At this point you do not need to be a registered student with AAT.

Application for student registration may be made at any time however once you decide that you are ready to be assessed, either through formal examination or skills testing, you must be registered with AAT. For skills testing this can be done at any time but for formal examination the following deadlines have been set

Registration must be made by the end of February for June examinations and by the end of September for December examinations.

As MCG is an Approved Assessment Centre we can help you to register with AAT and start your studies. This process, including confirmation that your location is acceptable, may however take up to one month so you should allow plenty of time.

Studying for AAT through MCG is easy. MCG offers a unique, flexible concept of Distance Learning with web support, which means that you can study almost anywhere, at any time convenient to you. You don’t have to take time off work and you can control and fit your studies around family commitments.

For each AAT subject, students will receive the following standard support package.

Study Texts and Assessment Kit written by authorized publishers.

Each interactive study text covers the syllabus in a logical sequence to exactly the right depth. To assist in the learning process, each book includes learning objectives, frequent activities and regular key term definitions to help pick out areas for learning and practice. The Kits provide targeted assessment practice to help build up the skills gained from the interactive text, with full sample assessments.

Personal Mentor support.

Experienced practitioners are on hand at all times to answer any questions you may have about the topics covered in the study material. If you have any problems with specific aspects of the course or the study material is not clear, you can ask the mentor in your own words for an explanation. Mentors can be contacted through email and will respond promptly. As they are practicing Accountants rather than lecturers, they will support you with answers drawn from their considerable work experience.

This combination of study material and support provides a flexible balanced approach, and allows you to learn in the way which suits you best.

We strive to supply study material within ten days, however this process may occasionally take 3 or 4 weeks to complete, after standard support fees have been paid.
