hours per week) Tutors/Mentors for the support of students
studying by distance learning.
The
programmes currently requiring support are :

Mentors
will support the following programmes:

Mentor
Profile –
- Mentors
are expected to hold a Post Graduate Degree or an equivalent
Professional Qualification related to the subject(s) they
are supporting. They should also have at least 10 years
practical work experience in the same or related discipline
and have regular access to the Internet.
- Mentors
should be able to demonstrate knowledge in their chosen
field and effective communication skills, particularly
in written form.
- Mentors
should be available for an average of 6 hours per week
to respond to student enquiries, primarily through email,
phone and if possible face-to-face contact, and guide
them through the study material.
- Mentors
should become familiar with programme and subject study
material which will be provided.
- Mentors
should be sensitive to the needs of students and pro-active
in motivating students to complete study tasks on time.

Tutor
Profile –
- Tutors
are expected to hold a Degree or an equivalent Professional

They should have at least 5 years practical work experience
in the same or related discipline and have regular access
to the Internet.
- Tutors
should be able to demonstrate knowledge in their chosen
field and effective communication skills.
- Tutors
should be available for an average of 6 hours per week
to guide students through home study material either through
email, phone or face-to-face contact.
- Tutors
should become familiar with programme and subject study
material which will be provided. They should prepare study
plans and be pro-active in involving and motivating students
to complete on time.
- Tutors
should be sensitive to the needs of students and keep
records of their progress and / or difficulties.
- Tutors
should keep logs of their involvement with students and
submit reports when requested.
